1) Hold on to traditional pen-to-paper planning style
If you are into planning, then you know what I am talking about when we go out and buy so many different planners, in an effort to find the perfect planner. There is always something I like more about a certain planner that I wish I could just put all together. I know there are several applications on the market that are used for planning. In fact, I have tried several of them, but they take away from my pen-and-paper satisfaction. See the fact is, we like to write our thing out to organize what we got on our minds. Using a stylus on my IPAD works the same way as traditional writing, just with A LOT more options! Making plans on my digital planner become really easy then. I can make endless amounts of lists. My favorite part is that I can make changes, as much as changes as I want, without making a mess in my planner. Everything feels so organized and available. I don't have to fill through pages to find what I am looking for anymore. I can refer back to any page with a click of a button. This my friends here is a game-changer.
2) Endless Customization Options to Build the Perfect Planner
I began making my first digital planner for myself to include everything I like to plan for in one digital accessible asset. After doing a whole lot of research I came to the conclusion that the software Keynote had a great and simple user interface that would allow me to make my personal planner. I designed most of my key assets using the easy-to-use online design tool called Canva (I will put the link for you below). It is honestly another huge game changer! I use Canva as my main design platform because it has a super easy user-friendly interface. Canva has loads of free templates to choose from to design potentially anything with simple drag-and-drop. Canva offers a free vision that has many templates to choose from with its own free photo library. I upgraded to the CanvaPro account because it gave me unlimited access to their entire photo library and elements assets. Having all your assets in one place made searching for designs so convenient. My favorite part about CanvaPro was their resize file option. Canva would automatically resize my entire design and template to any size I would be looking for. I was able to make any design in seconds. Together using my designs on Canva and the Keynote Software I put together my entire digital planner within days!

It was a dream come true. I was finally in possession of my perfect planner. The perfect planner is made with several unique tabs to different sections of my planner. Each section had its own template to organize all my thoughts designed to zoom in for daily operations and at the same time be able to take a step back and view my plans in an overall scheme.
3) Accessibility & Purpose
Whenever I needed to refer back to my notes, I was able to find exactly where I wrote it down using my table of contents page. You have to imagine when your dealing with a planner with over 100 pages can be overwhelming. Digital planners include so many features that your PDF file will likely be twice as many pages if not more. The most practical feature of digital planning is the ability to skip scrolling through so many pages and allowing the user to immediately be able to jump back and forth between them. The overall design of a digital planner feels like you are operating an application with buttons to redirect you to where you want to go. The home page of a planner works as an interactive dashboard.
Making the transition to digital planning gave my plans and notes a purpose.
Biggest Challenge
The biggest challenge with traditional pen-to-paper planners was encountering an unforeseen circumstances and having the need to make changes. In order to move one item around, either I would be making a lot of scratches out or desperately try to erase and rearrange. There was just minimal room for mistakes in your schedule, otherwise, you would have to just start all over again. Making the transition to a digital planner was so advantageous especially when it came to making any changes to my working schedule. This was especially useful when I was in school and had several different classes to keep up with. If there was a change of plans, in the digital planner I would use the cut&paste tools to simply rearrange my schedule that still works to meet my goals. The trick was using my weekly planner sheet to create a time block schedule for the entire week. This method would help visualize and highlight gaps in my schedule that would work perfectly to accommodate for any changes to the plan. In time, I was able to recognize how many gaps I really have in my schedule which meant I had lots of time available to spare. Being able to get a handle on how time works in your schedule is when the real opportunity for growth arises. Let's face it, we don't just make plans for no reason, we are working towards moving forward in whatever your goals may be. The reason I was curious enough to try digital planners, to begin with, was the features of the tab, but the reason I made the switch to digital planning forever was because of the ability to rearrange my schedule and visualize the gaps within.
Before digital planning, I used to print all my daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly sheets and try to organize my planner
based on my planning needs. But the end result was always so disorganized that I felt I was doing more work trying to organize my plans than actually following my plans.
Making the transition to a digital platform is not difficult at all for any user entry-level. Once you learn a few key buttons from our tutorial, you will find the transition to be quite smooth. Because the traditional pen-to-paper tool stays intact with a digital stylus, the experience is only enhanced versus removed.
